On 15 May, IVECO BUS and DAKAR DEM DIKK signed a contract for the delivery of 370 CROSSWAY units and a set of support services to contribute to the modernization of the transport offer in the Dakar metropolitan area and its suburbs.

The first batches of CROSSWAY have arrived in Dakar and the remaining units will be delivered by February 2024. They are ideally suited to DAKAR DEM DIKK's vision to provide a modern and efficient public transport service, allowing their users to be transported in optimal conditions of comfort and safety.

"We are delighted with this first contract in Senegal, which demonstrates IVECO BUS's ability to offer mobility solutions that are perfectly adapted to local contexts. We are proud to support DAKAR DEM DIKK not only with our CROSSWAY models, but also to contribute with our training and support services to the local development of the skills and know-how essential to guarantee an excellent level of service for the vehicles," said Gauthier Ricord, Head of Africa and Middle East Commercial Operations.

The undisputed leader in its category in Europe with nearly 60,000 units produced in its various versions, the CROSSWAY has earned the trust of numerous transport groups for its quality, performance, versatility, comfort, and optimized operating costs.

The CROSSWAY and CROSSWAY LE selected by DAKAR DEM DIKK will satisfy both passengers and drivers with their features. They are equipped with the 310-hp IVECO Cursor 8 Euro 3 engine known for its reliability and performance. The CROSSWAY models offer 55 seats while the Low Entry version can accommodate 34 seated and 72 standing passengers. They feature cataphoresis protection, 3-part front bumpers, UFR ramps, and air-suspended driver seats.

In addition to the supply of vehicles, several support and knowledge transfer measures have been included in this contract, such as the supply of a batch of spare parts and tools and the provision of documentation. The manufacturer will also provide technical training as well as assistance and technical support to the vehicles, to ensure their efficiency and performance.

This first major success in Senegal with the CROSSWAY range is a new step in the development of IVECO BUS's presence in Africa which confirms its desire to provide transport solutions and associated services perfectly suited to meet the specific needs of these markets and contribute to the development of passenger transport on the African continent.
