Mercedes-Benz Museum 2022 – the year in review: looking back to the future

  • 626,773 visitors from 150 countries
  • Art exhibition “Moving in Stereo” until 11 June 2023 with new works
  • Three more championship cars in the banked curve
  • Museum open-air season from April
  • Interactive special exhibition “Mobile Man” from September onwards

The #MercedesBenzmuseum takes stock of the successful year 2022: A total of 626,773 visitors from 150 countries came to the museum last year. Among them was also a school class from the region. On 28 April 2022, they bought the 11,111,111th admission ticket since the museum opened in 2006 as a group ticket. The varied 2022 programme in the outdoor area again included the all-make classic car meeting “Classics & Coffee”, the summer concerts, including a family day, the open-air cinema and the “City Culture at the #MercedesBenz Museum”. A highlight was the special exhibition “Moving in Stereo” of the #MercedesBenz Art Collection, which runs until 11 June 2023.

Comparing 2022 with the pandemic year 2021 shows how important the normalisation of cultural life is for museum guests:
• From 2021 to 2022, visitor numbers increased more than 2.5-fold.
• Guests from abroad again accounted for more than half in 2022. Most of them came from France, Switzerland, Ukraine and the United States of America.

New at the #MercedesBenz Museum
The art exhibition “Moving in Stereo”, with highlights from the #MercedesBenz Art Collection, is a special offering until 11 June 2023. In January, nine additional works of art were added to the exhibition, which now features 150 works by 90 artists from 20 countries. The museum will continue to cultivate the successful dialogue between the history of mobility and art in the future.

“Our building is a wonderful place to make the treasures of the #MercedesBenz Art Collection accessible to a large audience. That is why, even after the special exhibition ‘Moving in Stereo’, individual works from the #MercedesBenz Art Collection will have a permanent home with us.” #bettinahaussmann, Director #MercedesBenz Museum
