I. STAND UP

THERE’LL BE DANCING ON THE TABLE – WITH THE MOUTH-BLOWN CRYSTAL GLASSES FROM THE NEW BRAND #siegerbyichendorf

TUMBLERS WITH A TWIST

STAND UP, the new crystal glass collection from SIEGER and Ichendorf, gets things moving on the dinner table. Inspired by the imperturbable balance of roly-poly toys, the three mouth-blown wine and digestif glasses and a carafe pair elegant lightness with unexpected dynamism. Whether empty or full, they rock gently back and forth each time they’re touched only to regain their balance and stand up straight once again. It’s made possible by the precisely curved base, whose contact area with the table measures less than a square millimetre.

Light and playful, the collection is a sure-fire conversation starter at the dinner table – especially when the glasses suddenly start dancing as the drinks are poured. At the same time, the collection is designed to be highly versatile and suitable for everyday use. Because they don’t have the traditional stem, the tumblers can be used not just for digestifs and wine, but also for water, orange juice, gin and tonic, tea or coffee.

It took a lot of experiments, sketches and 3D prototypes to attain a perfect balance that allows finely nuanced movements without any spillages. Designer Michael Sieger attached particular importance to the lightness of the glass and the precision of the curved base. The tiny point on which each STAND UP glass rests on the table is decorated with a finely engraved star – the symbol of the SIEGER brand and an elegant testament to the exceptional craftsmanship of the Milanese brand Ichendorf.

The STAND UP collection is intended both for private homes and modern hotels, restaurants and bars. And even on yachts, the glasses work perfectly with their rocking motion. Guaranteeing fun, lively moments anywhere and everywhere.

The tumblers are available either in transparent glass or in the subtly greyish Smoke variant. The collection is rounded off by an elegantly designed carafe.

This year, two leading, long-established industry names are presenting their first joint collection: STA ND UP, a small range of mouth-blown glassware.

The new crystal glassware brand #siegerbyichendorf combines the extraordinary designs of SIEGER with Ichendorf Milano’s many years of expertise in the area of manufacturing. Down the years, both partners’ collections have made it into living and dining rooms and prestigious hotels and restaurants all around the world.

In 2005, Christian and Michael Sieger launched the premium brand SIEGER, which aimed to enrich people’s daily lives with intelligent, aesthetically pleasing products and to fulfil the demands of the modern hospitality sector. For over 15 years, the brand has worked with the German Porzellanmanufaktur FÜRSTENBERG to create #handmade porcelain collections. Bestsellers like the Sip of Gold champagne tumblers and MY CHINA! dinner service can now be found in countless apartments, five-star hotels, restaurants and luxury yachts. Behind the SIEGER brand is the agency sieger #design, which has been coming up with iconic tableware designs since the early 1990s. The brothers’ creative work includes developing the Ritzenhoff brand and the TRIC range, one of Germany’s best-selling porcelain collections, for A rzberg.

Ichendorf company history began back in the early years of the twentieth century in a small town near Cologne, named Quadrath-Ichendorf. There, many master-glaziers used a mix of substances, among which was silica, to give shape to objects able to meet the refined taste of that period. A stylistic code defined by precious ornaments, which had the undiscussed leading role of the collections proposed up until the fifties of the past century, when a very important change is established: to favour clean shape and purity of material. Old form and adornment were abolished, in an endless search for new, popular and no longer exclusive appearances. In 1990 Ichendorf style centre is established in Milan, creative point of convergence of artists and designers. The meeting and constant exchange of tradition and innovation, always aimed at the pursuit of beauty in its purest forms, gives life to all Ichendorf objects.
