Stuttgart. As of Tuesday, 1 September 2020, the #mercedesbenzmuseum will resume its normal opening hours between Tuesdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. “The museum is the perfect destination for the whole family and we have put together a diverse agenda for the coming weeks,” Monja Büdke promises as the Head of the #mercedesbenzmuseum.

G-Class special exhibition extended

The popular “Stories of the G. 40 years G-Class” special exhibition will remain on show until 27 September 2020. The museum has extended the exhibition that opened its doors in October 2019. With eleven vehicles and numerous additional exhibits, the special exhibition tells the story of the legendary off-road vehicle and also features what is probably the most iconic vehicle a Pope has ever travelled in: the “Popemobile” on the basis of the #mercedesbenz 230 G. This legendary vehicle was developed exactly 40 years ago on the occasion of John Paul II’s visit to Germany.

Cars & Coffee classic car meeting with more dates

On Sundays over the past weeks, the “Cars & Coffee” classic car meeting for all makes and brands has been so popular that the successful format will continue to take place until October. And that’s not all: from now on, “Cars & Coffee” will also be held on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to approximately 10 p.m. A visit to the event will be a very special experience once the square in front of the museum is packed with classic cars of all brands and bathed in a very special, atmospheric light.

Children’s activities

Summer holidays in Baden-Württemberg end on 12 September 2020. Until then, families with children can take part in the programme “Gottlieb Daimler’s legendary dream of mobility ─ on water, on land and in the air”, available every day the museum is open (starting on 28 August). It includes a self-organised rally through the permanent exhibition and a follow-up supervised creative event. Advance registration is not required, and the start time can also be chosen individually. Young visitors will be given the themed booklets for the rallies on site at the CAMPUS at Level 0 in the museum. They must, however, be accompanied by an adult to participate in the programme.

“Soaring temperatures” campaign

Every Sunday until the end of the summer holidays there will also be the chance of free admission to the permanent exhibition. If the thermometer at the museum already climbs to 20 degrees Celsius or more at 7:07 a.m., admission to the museum will be free on this particular Sunday during the regular opening hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information for visitors about this campaign is available on the museum’s social media channels (@mercedesbenzmuseum on Instagram and Facebook), from 9 a.m. via the Classic Contact Center (+49 711 17 30000) and on “DIE NEUE 107.7” radio station (https://dieneue1077.de/hitzefrei).

Measures during the COVID-19 pandemic

We are relaunching full operations on six days a week in line with statutory hygiene regulations. These include measures to maintain social distancing (1.5 metres minimum), rules about what to do if you need to sneeze or cough and a restriction of visitor numbers. Visitors must register to visit the museum and wear a mask to cover their mouth and nose (includes children from the age of 6). Visitors who have been to a high-risk region at any point within the 14 days before their visit will not be admitted.

The café bar will be open to provide catering facilities and a selection of food and beverages, while Bertha’s Restaurant remains closed for now. The cinema at the racing turn will also remain closed for the time being. Visit www.mercedes-benz.com/museum in case you have any questions about your visit to the museum.
