ŠKODA Design: From tradition towards the future

  • Evolution of ŠKODA’s successful #design language
  • ŠKODA DNA "Simply Clever" becomes "Simply Surprising" with fascinating design
  • The interplay of emotionalisation and "smart understatement" sets new focus
  • Crystalline #design draws on Bohemian tradition of crystal art, symbolizing sharpness and precision
  • New ŠKODA lettering in block capitals symbolizes increased self-confidence
  • ŠKODA’s #design department employs more than 150 people from 28 nations

Mladá Boleslav, 23 November 2018 – More modern, sporty and, above all, more emotive: The next development stage of ŠKODA’s #design language makes its debut in a series-production vehicle with the new ŠKODA SCALA. The traditional Czech brand is undergoing a consistent evolution rather than a revolution. The original ŠKODA DNA has been enriched with crystalline elements, drawing on the tradition of Czech crystal art. Now ŠKODA’s DNA receives new accents through a surprising interplay of function and emotion: "Simply Surprising". At the same time, ŠKODA’s new vehicles perfectly maintain the brand’s values, which the term "smart understatement" encapsulates.

ŠKODA Chief Designer Oliver Stefani emphasizes: "We want to reach and appeal to more people with our new #design language, which is smoother, more dynamic and, above all, more emotional. Our goal is for customers to choose a ŠKODA not only because it is practical, offers lots of space and an exceptional price-performance ratio; they should also love the #design and have a special emotional relationship to their vehicle.”
