Nissan appoints Jesse Verstraete as Vice President of Communications for Europe

PARIS (June 26, 2018) – Nissan in Europe today announced that Jesse Verstraete has been appointed Vice President of Communications. In his new role, Verstraete will be responsible for leading Nissan’s communications function, providing strategic counsel and support to the company’s senior leadership. In this position he will oversee consumer, corporate, and internal communications, as well as CSR for Nissan in Europe. He will lead a team of over 80 communications professionals in 20 countries, including Russia and will manage the relationship with external communications agencies Edelman and WRG. Verstraete will report directly to Nissan Europe Chairman, Gianluca de Ficchy.

Verstraete joined Nissan as General Manager Corporate Communications and CSR in June 2017, and has since been responsible for crisis and issues, executive, internal and manufacturing communications in the European region.

“As our industry and company transform, communications and modern storytelling will be key to achieving our strategic goals in Europe,” said de Ficchy.  “I am delighted to welcome Jesse as our new communications leader and I am confident that his experience and strong international profile will help us in taking the Nissan Europe communications function to the next level.”

Before joining Nissan, Verstraete was with Microsoft where he held several positions, most recently as Corporate Communications Director for Microsoft Asia and EU Communications lead, in charge of Microsoft’s European antitrust, public policy and CSR communications. Prior to that he was EMEA Communications Manager at Boeing, running communications for the aerospace and defense leader for EU/NATO and across Northern, Central and Eastern Europe.

Verstraete holds a Master’s degree in European Public Relations from Leeds Becket University, UK. He will continue to be based at Nissan’s European headquarters outside Paris and succeeds Stuart Jackson, who will leave the company in July 2018 to take up a new external opportunity.
