Nissan production, sales and export results for March 2016 and April 2015-March 2016 period

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for March 2015, as well as the cumulative figures for the twelve-month period from April 2015 through March 2016.

1. Production
March 2016
Nissan's global production in March increased 6.0 percent year-on-year to 475,001 units, the second consecutive month of increase.

Production in Japan decreased 5.0 percent year-on-year to 73,235 units, the fourth consecutive month of decrease.

Production outside Japan increased 8.3 percent year-on-year to 401,766 units, the eleventh consecutive month of increase and a record for the month of March.

In the U.S., production increased 10.3 percent year-on-year to 99,249 units, a record for a single month.

In Mexico, production decreased 1.3 percent year-on-year to 69,130 units.

In the U.K., production increased 0.4 percent year-on-year to 43,673 units.

In Spain, production decreased 23.5 percent year-on-year to 7,656 units.

In China, production increased 12.3 percent year-on-year to 112,178 units.

Production in other regions increased 21.4 percent year-on-year to 69,880 units.

April 2015-March 2016
Global production for the April 2015-March 2016 period increased 3.9 percent year-on-year to 5,226,398 units, the first increase in two years and a record for the April-March period.

Production in Japan decreased 2.4 percent year-on-year to 849,356 units, the fourth consecutive year of decrease.

Production outside Japan increased 5.2 percent year-on-year to 4,377,042 units, the seventh consecutive year of increase and a record for the April-March period.

In the U.S., production increased 6.2 percent year-on-year to 994,807 units, a record for the April-March period.

In Mexico, production increased 2.9 percent year-on-year to 830,194 units, a record for the April-March period.

In the U.K., production decreased 0.6 percent year-on-year to 478,057 units.

In Spain, production decreased 24.0 percent year-on-year to 98,904 units.

In China, production increased 7.5 percent year-on-year to 1,231,083 units.

Production in other regions increased 12.8 percent year-on-year to 743,997 units.

2. Sales
March 2016
Global sales increased 0.5 percent year-on-year to 575,086 units, the second consecutive month of increase.

Japan:

  • Sales including mini-vehicles decreased 9.7 percent year-on-year to 76,540 units, the 22nd consecutive month of decrease.
  • Vehicle registrations decreased 3.9 percent year-on-year to 51,199 units.
  • Mini-vehicle sales decreased 19.6 percent year-on-year to 25,341 units.

Sales outside Japan increased 2.3 percent year-on-year to 498,546 units, the eleventh consecutive month of increase and a record for a single month.

In the U.S., sales increased 12.7 percent year-on-year to 163,559 units, a record for a single month.

In Mexico, sales increased 8.4 percent year-on-year to 31,127 units, a record for the month of March.

In Europe, sales increased 1.1 percent year-on-year to 101,858 units, a record for a single month.

In China, sales increased 0.5 percent year-on-year to 110,219 units.

Sales in other regions decreased 14.0 percent year-on-year to 79,091 units.

April 2015-March 2016 
Global sales for the April 2015-March 2016 period increased 1.8 percent year-on-year to 5,424,958 units, the third consecutive year of increase and a record for the April-March period.

Japan:

  • Sales including mini-vehicles decreased 8.1 percent year-on-year to 572,581 units, the second consecutive year of decrease.
  • Vehicle registrations decreased 3.7 percent year-on-year to 375,498 units.
  • Mini-vehicle sales decreased 15.6 percent year-on-year to 197,083 units.

Sales outside Japan increased 3.1 percent year-on-year to 4,852,377 units, the third consecutive year of increase and a record for the April-March period.

In the U.S., sales increased 8.4 percent year-on-year to 1,517,494 units, a record for the April-March period.

In Mexico, sales increased 15.3 percent year-on-year to 357,854 units, a record for the April-March period.

In Europe, sales decreased 0.2 percent year-on-year to 753,621 units.

In China, sales increased 1.4 percent year-on-year to 1,252,491 units.

Sales in other regions decreased 5.9 percent year-on-year to 835,530 units.

3. Exports from Japan
March 2016
Exports in March decreased 17.8 percent year-on-year to 32,456 units, the fourth consecutive month of decrease.

April 2015-March 2016
Exports decreased 2.2 percent year-on-year to 490,385 units, the fourth consecutive year of decrease.
