Seventy Solaris buses to run in Romania

In the last days of 2014, Solaris signed a contract for delivery of seventy low-floor Urbino 12 to Pitesti, a city near Bucharest, Romania. It is another significant order from the Romanian market, which has become a more meaningful export direction for Solaris in recent years.

The vehicles Solaris will manufacture for the Pitesti operator (SC Publitrans 2000 SA) in the framework of the contract are completely low-floor buses, fitted with air-conditioning and LED daytime running lights. Additionally there will be an advanced passenger information system installed in the bus as well as a CCTV monitoring system. Cummins ISB6.7 280B (204 kW) Euro 6 engines are used as drive units.

The agreement between Solaris and Pitesti stipulates that the delivery of the seventy buses will be completed until May 2015. Solaris has been present on the Romanian market for a couple of years. Ten Urbino 12 are running on streets in the city of Oradea, twenty vehicles of the same model along with eight Trollino 12 were delivered to Baia Mare in the north of the country.

Last year, another two places joined the list of Romanian cities with green dachshund buses: Cluj-Napoca, capital of Transylvania and Craiova in the north of the country. The operator in the former chose forty articulated Urbino 18 while the latter signed a contract for delivery of seventeen Solaris Urbino 12...
