Volkswagen - Volkswagen Atlas wins SUV of the Year at 14th Annual Hispanic Motor Press Awards

Volkswagen of America, Inc. is pleased to announce the 2024 Atlas has won SUV of the Year at the 2023 Hispanic Motor Press Awards (HMPA). The 14th annual awards program recognizes the best vehicles for Hispanic consumers based on styling, driving satisfaction, technology, safety, environmental impact, mechanical reliability and value. The award was presented today at AutoMobility LA to Volkswagen Group of America President and CEO Pablo Di Si by Hispanic Motor Press Foundation President Ricardo Rodriguez-Long.

“We are greatly honored that our Volkswagen Atlas received the Hispanic Motor Press Award for best SUV for Hispanic consumers,” said Volkswagen Group of America President and CEO Pablo Di Si. “We’ve worked hard not just to make our cars some of the best, but to also reach out and include the Hispanic community through our advertising and consumer feedback. As an immigrant from Latin America, connecting Volkswagen with my own community here in North America is personally meaningful.”

"California is the largest Hispanic market in the country. It is also known as the center of car culture and automotive trends,” said Ricardo Rodriguez-Long, President of the Hispanic Motor Press Foundation. “What better place to highlight the best vehicles for the Hispanic consumer? As Latinos, we are looking for value in our cars."

The 2024 Atlas features an elegant new interior and a refined turbocharged engine that improves both performance and driving experience over the previous model year. Powered solely by a four-cylinder turbocharged and direct-injection TSI® engine with 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, the new engine provides similar power to the outgoing VR6®, along with a bump in torque—which is available over a broader rev range, improving drivability and acceleration. An eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard; Volkswagen’s 4Motion® all-wheel-drive system is available.

The spacious interior of the 2024 Atlas received a major upgrade, with premium materials adopted throughout, including a leatherette-trimmed soft-touch dash and center console. Front-row door trim and décor flow seamlessly into the dash panel, creating an upscale cockpit; the door treatment is also mirrored in the second row. Available ambient lighting with 30 color choices pairs with innovative backlit dash décor featuring the model name to elevate the new design.

Technology and comfort get a boost as well. Standard features now include IQ.DRIVE® driver assistance technology, featuring hands-on semi-automatic capability, a 12-inch floating infotainment display, and a 10.25-inch fully configurable Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro. Connecting devices is easier than ever with standard wireless App-Connect, wireless charging, and six USB-C ports (eight available) with 45-watt fast charging. Also standard: a heated steering wheel with shift paddles, ventilated front seats and a height-adjustable passenger seat are now standard fare, along with Climatronic® automatic climate control and Voice Control.

The full Atlas family of SUVs is assembled domestically at Volkswagen’s state-of-the-art assembly facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. MSRP for the 2024 Atlas starts at $37,725 and destination is $1,350. MSRP for the 2024 Atlas Cross Sport 2.0-liter starts at $36,715 and destination is $1,350.
